Scripture: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever— Psalm 23:6 (ESV)
Reflection: From the very beginning, God has been pursuing us. His grace doesn’t wait for us to get it all together — it meets us in the middle of our mess, our questions, and our wandering.Like a shepherd searching for one lost sheep, His love never grows weary and never gives up.
The word “follow” in Psalm 23:6 carries a deeper meaning — it’s the same Hebrew word used for pursue. God’s goodness doesn’t trail behind us passively; it chases after us with intention and tenderness. Even when we stray down broken paths, His mercy runs after us, calling us back to safety and belonging.
There’s no place too dark, no failure too deep, no distance too far for His pursuing grace. Every moment of our lives — joy or sorrow, abundance or wilderness — is marked by His presence, His protection, and His persistent love.
This is the heart of grace: not earned, not deserved, but freely given. It restores what’s been lost and redeems what’s been wasted. His love doesn’t just wait at the finish line — it walks beside us through every valley and pursues us even when we lose our way.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your grace is not still or silent — it’s active, alive, and always reaching for me.Even when I wander, You never stop chasing after my heart.
Help me to stop running from Your mercy and instead fall into the arms that have been open all along. May Your goodness and love surround me today and every day, until I finally dwell in Your house forever.
I ask this prayer in the name of your Son and my Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen.
Affirmation
